During the High-Level Week of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, AI Safety Connect and the MILA Quebec AI Institute convened an intimate gathering of high-level civil servants, representatives from leading international organizations, academic researchers, policy scholars, and technology industry leaders for an in-depth briefing on the International AI Safety Report, the world's first comprehensive synthesis of current literature on the capabilities and risks of advanced AI systems.
Report contributors Benjamin Prud'Homme (Mila), Catherine Régis (University of Montreal), Daniel Privitera (KIRA Center), and Stephen Clare (International AI Safety Report) provided an overview of the report's key points and technical findings.
The dialogue sparked conversation on best avenues for implementing the report's recommendations, participatory feedback for the future editions of the report, and enabled critical connections among stakeholders positioned to advance AI safety at the highest levels of global governance, frontier labs, and civil society.
